Eddie Jones to lead Australia into the 2023 Rugby World Cup
Eddie Jones, the Australian national team coach, announced this week that he will lead Australia into the 2023 Rugby World Cup. He was appointed in February 2019, and has led Australia to a record-setting 16 straight victories.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be leading the Australian team into the 2023 Rugby World Cup,” said Eddie Jones in a press release. “We’ve had some great success so far, but we want more. We’re going for gold!”
The announcement came as a shock to many fans of rugby, who had assumed that John Eales would continue as coach. However, Eales stepped down after his contract expired in June 2019 due to health reasons; he is now recovering from those issues with family at home and in hospital.
Eddie Jones has been coaching rugby since 2004. He led England to victory at the 2003 Rugby World Cup—the first time they had ever won it—and then coached them again at the 2007 Rugby World Cup where they won bronze behind winners South Africa and New Zealanders Samoa.”
